so this week we are getting awesome here in new york city. we just got here after shooting the video for "when your heart stops beating" over the weekend. thanks to everyone who came down to the shoot. liz friedlander directed it, and it looks like it is going be amazing. can't wait to see the final cut.

yesterday we went around the city and stepped up the sneaker game to a new level. the shoes here are something else... and today i am going to check out the toy stores and hit up midtown comics to get something to read on the flight over to the uk next week.

oh yeah, and also going to the record store to get the new matches and rory cd's. both of which come out today. both of which i got to work on. and both of which you should listen to. music, sneakers, toys and comics. and justin timberlake. today rules.

We caught up with Tom at the Hudson Hotel in New York CIty right before he was getting in his car to attend the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards.

Q: How does it feel to be nominated for three awards at this year's MTV VMA's?
A: Flattering. It is and honor to me to have any kind of recognition for a "brand new" band.

Q: Nostalgic?
A: I know what to expect but it's still a totally new thing - pretty cool and exciting. I, ah, haven't thought about it much.

Q: Are you excited to see anyone perform tonight?
A: Excited to see the Killers. Excited to see any kind of performance, all of it is entertaining. Should've had AVA perform - they fucked up!

Q: What's in store for new upcoming tours?
A: Going out with The Sounds in the fall for a few weeks. Then we are planning for a major tour come spring time.

Q: Other than sleep what are you thinking about?
A: Missing home. We just had a baby! Dad and Rock-Star-Guy thing is weird.

Q: What's the next short film to debut?
A: 3rd short film coming out. Video shoot for "War" in a few weeks.

Q: Anything you want to say to the Army of Angels Fan Club?
A: Thanks for the support. Thank you for being better looking than most fan clubs. I shall continue to bring the best music in the history of mankind!

Ex-Men Blink debut (+44) in L.A.

As +44, the new band featuring Blink-182 band mates Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker, made their live debut before a sold-out crowd at L.A.'s Roxy last night, perhaps no one was more excited than Hoppus himself.

"It's been almost exactly two years since I've been onstage," he informed the lucky few packed into the sweaty venue for the "secret" show.

His unbridled enthusiasm fit well with the often explosive music. Joined by Craig Fairbaugh and Shane Gallagher, the foursome played a 50-minute set of material from their forthcoming debut. And it is not Blink revisited.

Having grown as both songwriters and musicians, the quartet traded in the straight-ahead energy of Blink for much more subtle, yet equally effective, tension on songs like '155' and 'Baby, Come On.' On 'Weatherman,' the band showed themselves to be a finely-tuned unit, throwing in a sophisticated interlude followed by a Rush-esque intro.

Those wanting high-octane energy were satiated by 'When Your Heart Stops Beating,' a track that blended a Ramones-like intro with a Chuck Berry feel, and 'Make You Smile,' the song closest to Blink in sound. As the band wrapped shortly after 10:30, Hoppus was still feeling good.

"We're really, really happy to be out here tonight for the first show we ever played," he said.

worth the wait?

some things are worth the wait. this podcast is an excellent example of that trite phrase. i know we are two weeks behind delivering you the podcast, but guess what? we have our reasons. and once you hear the reasons for the delay in delivery, you will take back your harsh words of "where is the crappy podcast?" and change them into "well alright mark, you old so and so."

anyway, the first reason we are a week behind is the fact that we decided to make an hour-long podcast. that's right, this baby is an hour long. three podcasts in one, and five times as long-winded and boring as your average 20 minute podcast. do the math, people. if you do the math using your algebraic skills from the college that you dropped out of like i did, that's a hundred minutes of podcast goodness to fill up your already limited hard drive.

also, we have been deep in (+44) world. rehearsing, mastering the album, getting ready to play shows, leaking a song, those types of things. the album is nearly complete. we are working on the artwork as we speak. as we speak? as i type?

also, sadly, jon's grandfather passed away last week, so he has been in new jersey with his family.

but now, here we are, back on track, ready to go. so here is your boring ass podcast. enjoy it.

SANTA MONICA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 29, 2006--Former blink-182 co-founders Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker have reunited under the aegis of a new band, (+44), and will release their much anticipated album, "When Your Heart Stops Beating" (Interscope Records), on November 14th. The album is produced by Hoppus and Barker and executive produced by long-time blink-182 producer Jerry Finn.

Recruited for their new journey as (+44) -- pronounced "Plus 44" -- Shane Gallagher (The Nervous Return) and Craig Fairbaugh (Transplants, The Forgotten, Lars Frederiksen and the Bastards) join singer-bassist Hoppus and drummer-keyboardist Barker and pick up where the popular, multi-platinum-selling band blink-182 left off after splitting in late 2004. "We were two-thirds of blink-182, so we're not afraid of sounding like ourselves," says Hoppus. "We're not divorcing ourselves from the past, but we are pushing beyond the past. We're progressing like musicians should." Barker agrees: "Mark and I have a natural chemistry after playing together for so long and it's only gotten stronger. This band is a continuation of blink-182 but it's also different. For a long time, blink-182 was an underdog. I like being the underdog again."

Barker has known Gallagher since they were 16 years old playing together in garage bands at Southern California backyard parties. Fairbaugh was another organic addition, having played with Barker in the now-defunct Transplants. "Musically, what we are doing now we could never have done a few years ago," Barker says. "I love this band. And it's even better that we're doing this with friends. That's the best feeling in the world."

Upon naming the band (+44) after the international dialing code for the United Kingdom, their plan was simply to continue to create and explore. Barker put down his drums for six months and began piano lessons, bringing keyboards into the (+44) sound and opening up his songwriting talent. For the first time, Hoppus took on all of the lead vocals and lyric-writing and even added guitar to his usual bass duties. "I had no idea what I was capable of, especially as a singer. There's a whole range in my voice, from barely whispering to really loud. I'm proud of how far I've come."

(+44) is not a side project or an experiment. Though Hoppus and Barker produce other artists and guest on numerous projects, (+44) is #1 in their careers. Three years after the last original blink-182 album, (+44) is the culmination of their surging energy and creativity.

Hoppus continues to bring his expertise and passion as a producer of nascent bands. Among those he's recently worked with are The Matches, Something for Rockets and the acclaimed punk-pop quartet Motion City Soundtrack. Since 2005 Hoppus has also actively produced his own podcast through the innovative website www.HiMyNameIsMark.com, spotlighting up-and-coming indie bands, playing new tracks, interviewing musicians and hearing their most outrageous tour stories.

Formerly the drummer for blink-182, Box Car Racer and Transplants, Barker is one of the busiest musicians in rock n' roll. The Rancid Punx have a streak. Its been brought to my attention that since 2000, Rancid or members of , have put out a record every year.

Heres a break down of the past six years. In 2000 there was RANCID V. In 2001, the release of Lars solo record, LARS FREDERIKSEN AND THE BASTARDS. 2002, the Transplants dropped our first album. Rancids INDESTRUCTIBLE was put out in 2003. Lars second solo record, THE VIKING, was released in 2004. Travis, Rob, and I went back into the studio to work on the Transplants 2nd album, HAUNTED CITIES, which dropped in 2005. And for 2007, Rancid will have out our seventh record.

This year 2006, were going to keep the streak going. Ive been in the studio, recording songs and decided to put them out as a solo record. This album is going to be different from the rest, mainly because were going to give it away for free on the internet. Its our way of saying thanks to everyone, for all the support over the years.

The next record Ill be working on is Rancids seventh album. Were recording it as soon as we get off the road in December. Our plan is to jump into the studio right after tour, thats when our playing and singing is the strongest.

In the upcoming years, I hope to make another Transplants album. I love recording with those guys. Were not sure if were going to make another Bastards record. But you never know because the last one came about kind of organically after the Rancid Japan 2004 tour. Lars and I went into a studio in Tokyo, and demoed a handful of songs that ended up becoming the VIKING.

The first song and video off my solo record is called Hold On. It was recorded with the Aggrolites in Los Angeles. This track has an old school sound. We put one mic on the drums and everything was played live, keeping it real raw. The video was shot in one night wth a group of friends. Lars even flew down from SF to hang out and be in it. In the months to come I plan on dropping the rest of the record for free on the internet, one track at a time.

Neonato Abbandonato, avvolto in una t-shirt dei Blink 182...

Si trova al Royal Hospital di Glasgow, nel reparto Sick Children, il bebè abbandonato (probabilmente da due donne) è stato trovato dalla polizia locale sul ciglio di una porta. La bambina, chiamata Sarah dallo staff dell'ospedale era avvolta in una t-shirt nera dei Blink 182. Le condizioni della piccola Sarah al momento sono critiche ma stabili.

The couple, who star in the MTV reality show MEET THE BARKERS, were partying at nightspot Privilege, when a sexy female approached the rocker for an autograph.

Website PageSix.com reports former Miss USA Moakler stormed up to the woman and threw a drink over her. When asked for an explanation, the couple's representative DVORA VENER said, "No comment."

Ware leaving for California in less than a week and we will finish our second album there. Ross Robinson will be producing the album. Mark Hoppus is co-producing. As if it really needs to be said, we are wayyyyyyyy stoked. Probably more stoked than anything I could type on here would even begin to discribe, so I am not even going to try. Expect the record to be available in the first quarter of next year. Thanks for being patient while we worked everything out.

Mark Hoppus e Travis Barker ROMPONO IL SILENZIO DEI PLUS 44, PARLA 'IL VERO TOM'

Mark e Travis hanno recentemente rilasciato su MTV la prima intervista targata Plus 44. In una breve introduzione Mark chiarisce che tutto quello che si è ascoltato o sentito di non ufficiale riguardante la band è pura menzogna. Parlando con MTV dal loro studio di Hollywood dove si stanno mettendo a punto gli ultimi dettagli del loro album di debutto, che dovrebbe intitolarsi "Little Death", Mark e Travis sono molto contenti di mettere a tacere tutte le falsità e di poter parlare di un lavoro ormai concluso.

Ecco i tratti salienti dell'intervista: "Questa è la prima intervista fatta riguardo i Plus 44. Non volevamo parlare dell'album finchè non fosse stato concluso anche perchè non sapevamo a cosa andassimo incontro e quale sarebbe stato il risultato finale". "Nel frattempo ci sono stati molti cambiamenti: la cantante originaria Carol Heller ha lasciato la band ma è stata sostituita da due chitarristi Craig Fairbaugh e Shane Gallagher". Infine, cosa più importante è che il suono dell'album ha subito una drastica trasformazione tale da non dare più ragioni di riferirsi ai Plus 44 come a soltanto un progetto "elettronico". "All'inizio noi credevamo che ne uscisse un progetto con moltissime influenze elettroniche perchè per necessità stavamo registrando su di un computer. Dopo, però, avendo comprato uno studio di registrazione a Los Angeles e avendo passato qui il materiale già lavorato, tutto è cambiato. L'album che verrà fuori presenterà ogni tipo di roba come ad esempio: chitarre mescolate a tastiere, batterie elettroniche mixate a vere batterie. Il lavoro è basato su chitarre e ritmi e Shane e Craig, sono grandi chitarristi".

Dopo aver raccontato del loro lavoro, i due ex-Blink 182 ritornano al passato e tramite la voce di Travis lanciano una frecciata diretta all'(ex)-amico Tom DeLonge. Il batterista dice: "Devo dire che state vedendo definitivamente com'è fatto e chi è il vero Tom, e questo e l'unico commento che farò riguardo lui e la sua band. Ma..." continua Barker "...tutto accade per una ragione, infatti se non ci fosse stata la rottura dei Blink noi non saremmo stati qui e non saremmo stati in grado di fare il disco che abbiamo fatto... E' la cosa migliore del mondo.". E probabilmente con queste parole si potrebbe chiudere quasi definitivamento lo storico capitolo 'Blink 182'. - Tre canzoni dell' album dei Plus 44 saranno sicuramente: "The Weatherman", "Lillian" e "No It Isn't".

Nel DVD, "Hooray for the Madness", allegato alla nuova uscita di "Commit This To Memory" dei Motion City Soundtrack, c'è un'intervista di 8 minuti a Mark Hoppus, produttore dell'album. Va ricordato che Mark canta anche nella traccia #11 dell'album nella canzone intitolata "Hangman".

L'LP in questione uscirà il 20 Giugno per Epitaph Records e conterrà una bonus tracks, "Invisible Monsters". L'album può essere acquistato da qui.
